Indigenous History - Oxford
The Ask
Create a meaningful event in honour of Indigenous History Month that would celebrate and support Indigenous communities while fostering awareness and cultural appreciation across Oxford Properties’ portfolio. The goal was to spotlight Indigenous voices and businesses in a respectful and engaging way.
The Execution
In collaboration with Oxford’s Indigenous Employee Resource Group (ERG), I led the development and delivery of a cultural experience hosted at the TMX building—supported through a partnership with Oxford and OMERS. The event featured live performances representing diverse Indigenous nations, with storytelling elements that honoured cultural histories and traditions. Local Indigenous vendors and artists were also invited to showcase and sell their work, adding a marketplace component that connected education with tangible community support. From securing performers to managing logistics and working with internal stakeholders, we ensured the event struck a respectful balance between celebration and education—while championing local Indigenous businesses and voices at the heart of Toronto’s financial core.
